Skydiving FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions about Skydiving

Discounts, Age/Physical Requirements & Reservations Questions

Do you have group rates? - Yes!
Groups of six or more receive a $20 discount for each person when reserved and deposited as a group in advance! We specialize in groups - we have large (up to 21 jumpers), fast, modern aircraft to take your group to jump altitude, and there is a great viewing area with picnic tables and shade tents where you and your friends can gather. Please note - alcohol is not allowed. Please note - alcohol is not allowed. Please leave all pets at home, there are no dogs allowed on the airport.

If we make a reservation with a credit card, can we still get the cash discount? - Yes!
Reservations are made with a $50 per person deposit at the time of reservation. The deposit is applied to the jump price on the day of the jump. When you show up, you can pay the rest with cash and you will still get the cash discounted price for your skydive.

Do I have to make a reservation to go skydiving – and how far in advance? Can I just walk-in?
Reservations are not required, however, they are highly recommended, especially for summer days. If you have a special day in mind or you don’t want to risk a possible wait or disappointment, we suggest making a reservation. For groups who want to receive the group discount, it is required. And, for the solo freefall class, it is necessary to reserve in advance so we can get you your training materials and self test.

How far in advance – we suggest you give us a call to check availability when you are thinking about it, even if it’s the same day! The best example we can give you is that of a popular restaurant – the night you just show up with 6 of your friends, you can’t get a table because everyone else is already there – the next night, you are able to just walk-in. The same thing can happen with skydiving, so if you have a special day in mind – call early for best availability. If you are reading this and thinking I want to skydive today –– give us a call and we just might be able to make that happen, too!

We do take walk-ins for a tandem skydives, on a space and instructor available basis. We can often fit people into one of the many tandem skydiving classes we offer each day – we do suggest making a call before driving out to check on last minute availability.

How do I make a reservation - and what if I need to change or cancel the reservation?
Reservations can be made over the phone with a $50 per person advance deposit at the time of the reservation. The deposit will apply to the jump price on the day of the jump and it does become non-changeable, non-cancellable, non-refundable 7 days in advance of the scheduled jump date. You will still qualify for the cash discounted jump price by paying your balance in cash on the day of the jump.

Changes, cancellations or adjustments to the reservation can be made as follows - additional people can be added at any time with an additional deposit, as long as there is still space in the class. Cancellations or changes to the date or time must be made no later than 7 days in advance. Video requests will be accepted at any time, based upon availability.

Is there an age requirement to skydive?
Everyone must be at least 18 years of age with a valid government issued photo ID to skydive, based on the equipment manufacturer’s requirements. There is no parental consent option for anyone under 18. There is no upper age limit.

I am a little overweight, is that a problem?
Most people who have an active lifestyle can go skydiving. There is a weight limit of 230 lbs, height / weight proportionate, to make a solo or tandem skydive. Please contact us directly if you have any questions regarding weight requirements.

Day of Jump Questions

What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes (NO open toed shoes or hiking boots or shoes with hooks). On warm sunny days you may choose to jump in shorts and a t-shirt, please note, tank tops or sleeveless shirts are not comfortable under the harness. On colder days jeans and a long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt may be appropriate. No bare feet or sandals are allowed.

I wear glasses or contacts – is this a problem?
We have goggles that fit over most regular sized glasses. Please bring a retainer strap and if possible, wear your smallest profile glasses for the best fit. For contact wearers, please let you instructor know you have contacts so that they can assist you in making sure the goggles are very snug.

I have long hair, what should I do?
You will be wearing a helmet for your skydive. Please bring a hair band so you can fasten your hair into a low pony tail or braid and it can be tucked inside your helmet.

What if the weather forecast is bad?
Neither we, nor the weatherman, are 100% accurate at predicting the weather here in the NW. We do not cancel jumps based on the forecast - all weather decisions are made on the day of the jump. We do not jump in the rain or through the clouds, but lots of partly cloudy / partly sunny days are especially great for skydiving, but those days can require long waits, so patience is involved. If you have a question on weather, you can call shortly before you head out for your scheduled time and we'll let you know the status of the day. All weather decisions are made on the day of the jump - rescheduling or refunds of deposits will be handled on that day.

What time will I jump, so my friends can watch? If you are making a Tandem Skydive, we suggest you plan 3 – 4 hours for weekday tandem jumps and 4 – 5 hours for weekend jumps. The first hour of your day is spent on training and paperwork, so if your friends want to show up a bit later, that is okay. Once your class is trained, we assign groups to aircraft loads. Classes have 1 – 16 people and are comprised of various groups and individual students, so there will likely be more than one airplane flight and not everyone will be on the first load. Jumping usually begins between 1 and 4 hours after your scheduled check-in time.

If you are making a Solo Skydive, it is generally safe to tell your friends to show up approximately 4 to 5 hours after your scheduled class time to watch you jump. You will spend the first half-hour of your day on paperwork and check in and follow that with 3 – 4 hours of ground school. Once your training is completed, you will meet with your jump masters and we will manifest you on an aircraft load. The solo class holds up to 4 students and we generally limit the number of solo students per aircraft to 1 or 2, so solo student jumps will be spread out over the afternoon. Please plan on a full day for your solo jump.

Special note, the times listed above are only estimates, things can go faster or slower, due to weather, equipment or instructor availability, aircraft or special requests. Please let all spectator friends know that it can be a long wait for non-jumpers, particularly on busy weekend days or when weather is an issue. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Can my friends sit through class with me?
That is not possible. Due to regulations & space limitations, only student jumpers are allowed in the training facility. We do however, have a nice spectator picnic area with tables where they can wait for you. Please note - Alcohol is not allowed.

May I bring my dog?
Unfortunately, no. We love dogs too, but for many reasons dogs are not allowed on the airport property at any time. Please remind your spectator friends.

Can we have a picnic?
Yes. We have a picnic / viewing area for you and your family and friends on a first come, first served basis. You are welcome to bring a picnic or snacks. Alcohol is not allowed on the airport while skydiving. There are chairs and picnic tables available, however you are welcome to bring your own folding or padded chairs for extra seating comfort. Please note, there are no dogs allowed on the airport and all children must be with a parent or guardian at all times.

Is there anything close by for children or non-jumping family and friends?
While we do not have playground facilities on site, there are a few options nearby to occupy non-skydivers of all ages. For young children, we do suggest bringing board games, books or other quiet toys to keep them occupied while they wait with their parents.

Skydive Video Questions

Can I get pictures of my Skydive? Yes! DVD and a free roll of 35mm stills are available for an additional charge. To learn more, check out the skydiving video on this site. Or visit YouTube where you will find many Skydive Oregon videos.

Should I give advance warning if I want my skydive on video?
Yes! The more advance warning the better.

What is the difference between Instructor Hand Cam video and the DVD / Photo packages?
Instructor Hand/Cam video is where a video qualified tandem instructor wears a special glove and camera to capture up close footage of you – even under parachute. Hand Cam video is available for $70 cash or $75 cc/atm. Please note, Hand Cam is limited based on specific instructor availability.

The DVD / Photo Package is shot by a professional cameraflyer who wears two cameras and jumps with you and your instructor. You will get both video and still photos of your jump for $95 cash or $100 cc/atm. As an added bonus, you will get to see your cameraflyer flying in front of you, just a few feet away in freefall.

What type of Video can I expect?
A 6 - 7 minute film of your skydive, dubbed on to a DVD, edited with music. We expect to film you at various times from an opening introduction when you gear up and board the plane to after your landing. However, because of the number of variables the only part that we guarantee is the freefall phase. Bonus footage may include climbing into the aircraft, takeoff, the climb to altitude, exit, under canopy and landing.

How long before I receive my film and DVD?
You will take the Photo CD with you the very same day you jump. Please note on busy jump days there may be a short delay, up to an hour after landing before it is completed. The video will be mailed separately. Because of the amount of time we put into the production of the DVD, we will mail it to you for free within a week or two.

What kind of Still Photos can I expect?
With the purchase of the DVD / Photo package you will be given a CD with 30 – 40 digital photos of your skydive. Your pictures may include shots of you on the ground, in the airplane, during freefall and landing. If you are with a group, please let your cameraflyer know that you would like to include your friends in a few shots on the ground. You will receive your photo CD shortly after your skydive.

Can I take my own camera with me?
No. You are too busy with your skydive to look after your cameras. It may very easily get lost or broken and we can not risk dropping it in freefall or under parachute.

Can the camera person film more than one person?
No. The cameraflyer is dedicated to you, which means that they will be exiting the airplane and skydiving with you and your instructor filming your entire jump. Due to the amount of time and the distance between each exit, the camerflyer can only film one student in freefall. We can take a ground shot or two of your group, if you let us know at the time of your jump.

Can I get pictures of my Skydive? Can I get pictures only?
Yes! DVD and a digital stills are available for an additional charge. Change the roll of film to digital stills. A cameraflyer will jump with you and your instructor. They wear two cameras to capture your experience with video and still photos. This package is available for $95 cash or $100 cc/atm and includes video and stills. There is not a photo only option - the cameraflyer who jumps with you wears both cameras on every jump which means there is no cost difference for receiving both pictures and video.
